Narada Falls
Lewis County, Washington
About This Waterfall
Narada Falls is a powerful 188-foot tiered plunge on the Paradise River in Mount Rainier National Park, dropping in two distinct steps — a dramatic 168-foot main drop followed by a 20-foot lower cascade. The falls are framed by steep canyon walls draped in moss and subalpine fir, with the massive bulk of Mount Rainier visible from the upper viewpoints on clear days. During peak snowmelt in July, the falls run at full throttle, throwing mist across the entire viewing area and creating a constant roar that echoes through the valley.
The main viewpoint is just a short walk from the parking area along a paved path, making Narada one of the most accessible waterfalls in the park. A steeper 0.2-mile trail descends to a lower viewpoint at the base of the falls, where the spray soaks everything within reach. The descent drops 200 feet via switchbacks and can be slippery — sturdy shoes are essential. The upper viewpoint offers a bird's-eye perspective looking down into the churning pool.
Located on the road between Longmire and Paradise, Narada Falls is a natural stop on the way to Mount Rainier's most popular visitor area. The parking lot fills quickly on summer weekends, so visit early or late in the day. Winter brings massive ice formations that transform the falls into a frozen sculpture. National park entrance fee required.
