About Waterfalls Directory

We're building the most comprehensive, trip-ready waterfall guide for adventurers across America.

Our Mission

Waterfalls have a way of stopping us in our tracks. There's something magical about watching water cascade over ancient rocks, feeling the mist on your face, and hearing the thunderous roar echo through a gorge. We believe everyone deserves to experience that magic.

That's why we created Waterfalls Directory—to help you discover, plan, and experience waterfall adventures that match your style, whether you're a family looking for an easy roadside stop, a photographer chasing the perfect shot, or a serious hiker seeking backcountry solitude.

What Makes Us Different

Most waterfall websites fall into two camps: beautiful travel blogs with limited coverage, or comprehensive databases with outdated designs and thin information. We're building something better.

  • Trip-Ready Information: Every listing answers the question "Can I actually go here this weekend?" with real details on parking, fees, trail conditions, and what to expect.
  • Family-Focused: We highlight kid-friendly, stroller-accessible, and wheelchair-accessible waterfalls because adventure should be for everyone.
  • Honest Difficulty Ratings: Our ratings consider elevation, terrain, and real-world conditions—not just distance.
  • Current Conditions: We update trail status and conditions regularly so you don't drive two hours to find a closed trail.

Our Story

Waterfalls Directory started as a personal project to document waterfall hikes in North Carolina. After visiting dozens of falls and struggling to find reliable information online, we decided to build the resource we wished existed.

We're starting with the Southeast and expanding state by state, ensuring every region gets the depth and attention it deserves. Quality over quantity—always.

Get Involved

This project grows through community contributions. If you know a waterfall we're missing, have updated trail information, or just want to share your photos, we'd love to hear from you.
