Stewart Falls
Utah County, Utah
About This Waterfall
Stewart Falls cascades 200 feet in two tiers down a massive cliff face on the eastern flank of Mount Timpanogos, the water splitting and recombining as it navigates the broken rock in a spectacular display of alpine power. The upper tier is a concentrated plunge, while the lower spreads wide across the cliff in a horsetail pattern, mist drifting across the wildflower meadow at the base. The backdrop of Timpanogos — one of the most impressive peaks in the Wasatch Range — elevates the scene to postcard perfection.
The trail is approximately 3.5 miles round trip from the Aspen Grove trailhead, gaining about 660 feet through mountain meadows and aspen groves with consistent views of the surrounding peaks. The route crosses several small streams and passes through fields of wildflowers from July through August. The Sundance Resort area nearby provides an alternative access point with slightly different trail characteristics.
July and August offer the best wildflower displays alongside strong water flow from lingering snowmelt. The falls are visible from a distance as you approach, building anticipation over the final mile. Morning light illuminates the cliff face directly — photographers should plan accordingly. The trailhead shares parking with the Mount Timpanogos Trail and can fill early on weekends.
