Greeter Falls
Grundy County, Tennessee
About This Waterfall
Greeter Falls is a spectacular two-tier waterfall in the Savage Gulf area of South Cumberland State Park, with a 15-foot upper ledge followed by a dramatic 50-foot lower plunge into a crystal-clear blue swimming hole. The vivid blue-green color of the plunge pool against the tan sandstone walls creates one of the most photographed scenes in Tennessee.
The Greeter Falls Loop is a 3.3-mile moderate trail that visits three waterfalls, numerous sandstone bluffs, and a historic homesite. The trail descends into the gorge via stone steps, wooden stairs, and natural rock formations.
Summer brings swimmers to the iconic blue hole below the lower falls, while spring offers the most dramatic water flow. The area is part of the Savage Gulf State Natural Area, one of the most ecologically significant areas on the Cumberland Plateau.
