Cane Creek Falls
Van Buren County, Tennessee
About This Waterfall
Cane Creek Falls drops 85 feet over a wide sandstone ledge in Fall Creek Falls State Park, creating a broad cascade that rivals its taller neighbor. The falls pour over a semicircular rock face into a scenic gorge. The viewing area near the Nature Center provides an excellent vantage point with minimal hiking effort.
From the Nature Center, a short walk leads to the overlook, while a more challenging descent via the Suspension Bridge Trail and Cable Trail takes visitors to the gorge floor for a dramatic view from the base. The cable-assisted descent is steep and requires good grip strength, but the up-close perspective is worth the effort.
The falls are most impressive after spring rains when Cane Creek swells to full capacity. The surrounding gorge displays beautiful layered sandstone geology. Combined with nearby Fall Creek Falls and Piney Creek Falls, this park offers the highest concentration of major waterfalls in Tennessee.
