Raymondskill Falls

Pike County, Pennsylvania

Raymondskill Falls

About This Waterfall

Raymondskill Falls is the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania, dropping a total of 150 feet in three distinct tiers through a lush hemlock ravine in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The upper tier is a broad, powerful cascade, the middle section channels through a narrow chute, and the lower tier fans out over a wide rock face before collecting in a pool at the base. The layered sandstone and shale formations flanking the falls display subtle hues of grey, tan, and rust that complement the dark green hemlocks.

Several viewing platforms along a short but steep trail provide different perspectives of the falls. The upper platform overlooks the crest of the falls, while a stair climb descends to a mid-level platform with views of all three tiers. The total trail is about 0.5 miles from the parking area to the viewing platforms, with a moderate descent and ascent. The trail is well-maintained with wooden stairs and railings, though sections can be slippery after rain.

Spring offers the most powerful water flow, and the hemlock ravine stays cool and shaded even in summer. Fall foliage adds splashes of gold and orange to the evergreen canopy. The falls are free to visit as part of the National Recreation Area, with no entrance fee required. Raymondskill Falls is about 2 miles from the equally impressive Dingmans Falls, making it easy to visit both in a single trip.
