Toketee Falls

Toketee Falls is a jaw-dropping 113-foot tiered waterfall framed by towering columns of hexagonal basalt that look like they were sculpted by a giant's chisel. The upper tier drops 28 feet into a turquoise pool cradled in a deep basalt alcove, then the water spills over the edge in an 85-foot plunge into a larger pool below. The combination of columnar basalt, emerald-green moss, and crystalline water makes Toketee one of the most photographed waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest.

The 0.8-mile trail from the parking area follows the North Umpqua River through a forest of Douglas fir and western red cedar before arriving at a wooden viewing platform perched on the canyon rim. The platform offers a perfect vantage point of both tiers, with the basalt columns providing a dramatic natural frame. The trail is mostly flat with a gentle descent to the viewpoint, making it accessible for families.

Peak flow occurs in late spring, but the falls are impressive year-round thanks to consistent water from upstream reservoirs. Combine a visit with nearby Watson Falls and Umpqua Hot Springs for a full day of exploration along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway.
