Diana's Baths
Carroll County, New Hampshire
About This Waterfall
Diana's Baths is an enchanting series of small waterfalls, cascades, and sculpted granite pools along Lucy Brook in the White Mountain National Forest near North Conway. The brook tumbles over a wide expanse of smooth, water-worn granite in a staircase pattern, creating dozens of natural pools, slides, and miniature falls ranging from 2 to 12 feet in height. The overall drop across the formation is about 75 feet spread over several hundred yards. The smooth, sun-warmed granite and crystal-clear pools make this one of the most popular swimming and wading spots in the White Mountains.
The trail from the parking area is an easy 0.6-mile walk along a wide, well-maintained path through a forest of white pine and hemlock. The path is nearly flat and suitable for families with young children. At the falls, flat granite slabs provide natural seating and sunbathing spots, while the various pools offer different depths for wading and swimming. Upstream exploration reveals more cascades and pools for those willing to scramble over the rocks.
Summer is the prime season, when the sun-warmed granite and cool pools are irresistible. The falls are also beautiful in fall when the surrounding maples turn brilliant orange and red. A WMNF parking pass is required for the trailhead lot on West Side Road. On hot summer weekends, the parking lot fills by mid-morning — arrive early or visit on weekdays.
