Flat Lick Falls
Jackson County, Kentucky
About This Waterfall
Flat Lick Falls is a scenic 33-foot plunge waterfall along Laurel Fork Creek in Jackson County, where the creek drops over a wide sandstone ledge into a pool below. The broad curtain of water and accessible viewing make this one of the most visitor-friendly waterfalls in Kentucky. The surrounding forest of hemlock and hardwoods provides a pleasant natural setting.
Multiple viewing options are available — a paved, wheelchair-accessible trail leads to an overlook at the top of the falls, while a half-mile footpath descends to the base for an up-close perspective. The combination of easy access and scenic beauty makes this an excellent family destination. Picnic facilities and restrooms are available.
The falls are best after rain but maintain flow through much of the year. The accessible top overlook and the rugged base trail provide contrasting experiences of the same waterfall. Located in a well-maintained recreation area with camping nearby.
