Eagle Falls
McCreary County, Kentucky
About This Waterfall
Eagle Falls is a picturesque 40-foot waterfall tucked in a secluded rocky cove near Cumberland Falls, accessed by what is widely considered the number one rated trail in Kentucky. The falls pour over a concave rock ledge into a small, crystal-clear pool surrounded by fern-covered sandstone walls. The intimate setting provides a striking contrast to the massive Cumberland Falls nearby.
The 1.5-mile Eagle Falls Trail starts near Cumberland Falls and follows the banks of the Cumberland River before ascending to the falls in a sheltered cove. Along the way, the trail provides excellent views of Cumberland Falls from above. The combination of river views, forest walking, and the hidden waterfall makes this a complete hiking experience.
The falls run best during spring but maintain flow throughout most of the year. This trail pairs perfectly with a visit to Cumberland Falls, as both can be experienced in a single morning. The trail was rated the top trail in Kentucky by AllTrails users.
