Minnehaha Falls
Rabun County, Georgia
About This Waterfall
Minnehaha Falls is an 80-foot cascade on Falls Creek in Rabun County, Georgia, near scenic Lake Rabun. The water tumbles over a stepped rock formation in a series of drops and slides through a forest of hemlock and rhododendron. The intimate setting and relatively few visitors make this one of the more peaceful waterfall experiences in the North Georgia mountains.
The short 0.4-mile Minnehaha Trail from Bear Gap Road leads directly to the base of the falls through dense forest. The trail is maintained by the US Forest Service and is suitable for most fitness levels. The falls are located within the Chattooga River Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest.
The falls are best visited after rain for the most impressive flow. The proximity to Lake Rabun makes this a natural addition to a day of lake activities. Fall foliage in the surrounding forest is beautiful in late October. The short trail and relatively secluded setting make this a perfect quick stop.
