Helton Creek Falls
Union County, Georgia
About This Waterfall
Helton Creek Falls is a beautiful double waterfall near Blairsville, Georgia, with a 50-foot upper cascade and a 30-foot lower slide connected by a short section of creek. The upper falls drop over a wide rock face surrounded by dense rhododendron, while the lower falls slide down a smooth rock slope into a shallow pool. Both falls are easily visible from a short trail with minimal effort.
The 0.3-mile trail from the roadside pullout descends gently to the base of the lower falls, with a short spur trail leading to the upper falls. The entire experience takes less than 30 minutes, making this one of the quickest waterfall payoffs in the North Georgia mountains.
The falls are best after rain but maintain flow throughout most of the year. The short hike makes this an excellent stop when combined with other waterfalls in the Blairsville area. Fall color in the surrounding hardwood forest peaks in late October.
