Anna Ruby Falls
White County, Georgia
About This Waterfall
Anna Ruby Falls is a rare double waterfall near Helen, Georgia, where Curtis Creek drops 153 feet and York Creek drops 50 feet side by side before merging at the base. The twin falls cascade over dark rock faces surrounded by a lush forest of hemlock, rhododendron, and hardwoods. The visual effect of two waterfalls flowing in parallel is striking and unusual.
The paved, 0.4-mile trail from the parking area to the observation deck is gentle and accessible, making this one of the easiest significant waterfall hikes in Georgia. The trail follows Smith Creek through a shaded corridor with interpretive signs explaining the forest ecology. A covered observation deck at the base provides an excellent view of both falls.
The falls run year-round but are most impressive in spring. The surrounding Chattahoochee National Forest provides excellent fall color in October. A day-use fee applies. The nearby town of Helen, with its Bavarian-themed architecture, makes a charming base for exploring the area.
