Seven Falls
El Paso County, Colorado
About This Waterfall
Seven distinct cascades tumble 181 feet down a sheer granite wall in South Cheyenne Canyon, each spill catching light differently as the water bounces from ledge to ledge. At night, colored lights illuminate the falls against the dark canyon walls, creating a spectacle unique among Colorado waterfalls. The approach through the canyon — dubbed the Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado — builds anticipation with towering red rock walls closing in on both sides.
A concrete staircase of 224 steps climbs alongside the falls to a viewing platform at the top, or visitors can take the mountain elevator carved into the rock for a more leisurely ascent. At the summit, the Midnight Falls trail continues deeper into the canyon. The entire complex is a privately operated attraction with a restaurant, gift shop, and event spaces at the base.
The falls run year-round but peak during late spring snowmelt in May and June. The nighttime lighting show runs from dusk through the evening and is worth a separate visit. Arrive early on summer weekends — the parking lot fills quickly. Admission runs about $17 for adults.
Trail Information
Warning: Stairs are steep and can be slippery. Not suitable for those with mobility issues unless using the elevator. Flash flood danger during heavy rain.
